Have You Traveled to Scotland?

Hi Friends and Family,

I’ve been keeping a secret…and I’m so excited to finally share! This September, I’ll be traveling to Scotland with my twin sister, Rachell.

You may be wondering why this is such a big secret. The first, many people have asked how many times I’ve been to bonnie Scotland since THE STARS OF SCOTLAND is set in the breathtaking country, but the truth is: I haven’t visited. I planned to go in 2020 before COVID hit, but then due to the pandemic, family circumstances, finances, and my husband’s continued recovery from his accident, I haven’t been able to travel. At least, not until now.

I’ll be honest. I initially thought this detail would dissuade readers from reading my travel romance. But the truth is that many writers research aspects of their books including locations, people, and places. When writing this novel, I read armfuls of travel books, watched video blogs on YouTube of walking tours of various Scottish locations and attractions, and immersed myself in documentaries. In addition, to help ensure accuracy, my beta readers included Scottish readers as well as readers who’ve traveled to Scotland.

But this September, I’m taking a jet plane to Scotland! I feel like I’m living part of my character’s journey! My sister bought me a ticket to celebrate our 40th birthday. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I cried big, fat, happy tears and threw my arms around her. Of course, mom guilt followed on the heels of my excitement, but I’m pushing past the guilt and going. We’ll be staying in Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, and the Isle of Skye during our vacation.

And guess, what? I’ll be taking pictures and videos for YOU, so you can experience this fantastic journey as well.

I can’t wait to travel to Scotland and share some of the culture and places featured in THE STARS OF SCOTLAND as well as some locales in the upcoming books. A few locations I’m particularly excited to visit are Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Eileen Donna Castle (the home of the Macraes), the Highlands, and Isle of Skye. Have you been to Scotland as well?

I’ll be sharing more on my socials soon, so stay tuned!

Until next time, I send you love.
